JAMES GOUGH

The inadequate provision of car parking facilities for patients, visitors and staff for Christchurch Public Hospital is unacceptable and I see expediting the construction of a new hospital car parking building as a top priority.

What sets me apart is I am not interested in why things can’t happen; I am committed to finding ways they can.

I am a third term city councillor and I chair the council’s Regulatory Performance, Central City Development Forum and Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committees.

My professional background is in property, asset management and corporate governance.

I bring a business lens with a people-focus that puts you and your family’s health at the heart of decision making.

Critical issues for me include: children’s healthcare, aged healthcare, maternity care, mental health, waiting list reduction and accident and emergency care.

I do not support chlorination of safe local water nor do I support compulsory mass fluoridation.

I have either served at committee level or been actively involved in fundraising for a number of local charitable trusts including the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, Diabetes Research Institute Trust, Foundation for Youth Development, Canterbury Earthquake Children’s Trust and the McLean Institute.

Representing your views on the Canterbury District Health Board would be a privilege and a pleasure so I am seeking your backing to achieve this.

Make your vote count - a 1 ranking for James Gough is a vote for you and your family’s future.

CATHERINE CHU

I am a current Community Board Member and also an Authorised Financial Advisor.

Born and bred in Christchurch, being fluent in Korean and English, and with a study background in Chinese, Japanese and Te Reo Māori, I have a broad understanding of our diverse communities in Canterbury. This is important as our Canterbury region is made up of such diversity and the make up of our District Health Board should represent the demographics of our region so that every voice in Canterbury is heard.

I believe I can bring diversity, competence and a fresh perspective to the Canterbury District Health Board and offer better healthcare for all Cantabrians.

If elected, I will address the healthcare for our aging population, I will be your strong voice and advocate for; mental health and well-being, reducing waiting lists and waiting times, and most importantly, affordable and quality healthcare and dentalcare for Cantabrians.
